Our Standards
Our Standards
UAY is an organisation that recognises the importance and need to be governed by workable standards and code of conduct. By adopting high levels of standards, governing codes, policies and procedures UAY knows that it does away with 90% of the misgivings that people have when choosing to donate to a charitable organisation. We too are faced with the same issues and questions when we consider sponsoring worthwhile causes.
UAY has developed and adheres to the following quality statement which it applies across all sections of its operations:
Quality Statement
United Action for Youth (UAY) is committed to ensuring quality in its operations, through best practice, an open and honest environment, giving 100% and treating everyone we work with equally and with respect.
At UAY, we believe in working together with our partners and beneficiaries in pursuing this policy and in continually striving for improvements in quality.
The quality policy is based on 3 fundamental principles:
Commitment:
Pledging oneself to a certain cause.
Benevolence:
To give to others freely and unconditionally as a demonstration of love for mankind.
Integrity:
To be consistent with our actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes.
UAY promotes and maintains this quality policy, which is always subject to review in order to maintain our high standards.
The quality principles are disseminated in order to allow trustees, friends and partners to share in the objectives of UAY and maintain the synergy that continues to help us become a successful and unwavering charity.
In addition, UAY ’s trustees are committed to:

Fundraising Guidelines
Fundraising is the backbone of any charitable organisation’s activities. It is also the trickiest aspect for any organisations involved in fundraising as it determines the success of an organisation or not.
We are determined and committed to successful fundraising. We have therefore applied for membership to the Fundraising Standards , a government sponsored organisation responsible for ensuring that its members follow so that we have an official board that we belong to that gives us a code of conduct and practice. Should you find our conduct unsuitable, you have an avenue to report the matter which has our permission to discipline us. For us, this is allows us to make a public promise to you.

Volunteering Guidelines
The volunteering guidelines are a way of ensuring consistency in our operations when people work with us. They help maintain the high standards that we pride ourselves in having.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
Does all the money you receive go to the intended beneficiaries or do you have a budget for salaries, expenses, allowances etc?
Answer::
Our charity is run on a purely voluntary basis and we have no paid stuff. Apart from annual website fees, all monies collected go towards the School Fees Fund
Question::
And how do you know that the money used to pay for the fees actually goes to pay for the school fees
Answer::
Money comes from our account and is transferred directly into the school’s school fees account referencing the child’s name the fees are meant for.
Question:
And how do you know that the child you are paying fees for is actually going to school?
Answer:
Good question. Apart from the fact that these children see the opportunity to carry on going to school as a GOD-SENT opportunity, we have now put in place our local representative, Mrs Matsinde to coordinate random annual visits to the schools to meet with the girls and find out how they are progressing. It is also a chance to record the effectiveness of our mission.
