What’s Next
Due to the sharp increase in school fees in Zimbabwe, our SchoolFees fund is under severe threat. We have seen a quadrupling of fees that puts into doubt our ability to continue beyond 2010.
If we do not increase our level of funding, chances are that we will not be able to
(i) expand and take on more students and
(ii) maintain the children we already have.
If that were to happen, that will really be devastating to the communities we have been helping.

We are committed that the children we look after develop into self-sufficient, productive and frankly, highly successful individuals. We realise that with the SchoolFees Program which caters for teenagers in High Schools, there is no structure in place to monitor and support continual progress of the child after they complete their O’ or A’ Levels. There may still require financial support to see them through university or further education. They may need assistance with vocational training, internships or apprenticeship.
For example, at the time of writing, we are not sure at all what Fiona is going to do next. This is a matter of great concern to us.
We are therefore looking to forge alliances and partnerships with organisations that work with young adults after they complete with secondary education. Over the next 6 months, we will develop a program that will put in place such a system.
