How we work
How we work
We have a scheme we run with Head Teachers of Secondary and High Schools. We also aim to work with alumni from other schools to help them join the UAY network and set up UAY School Fees Funds for their old schools.
Head Teachers
We work with Head teachers to identify children who have dropped out of their schools or who consistently fail to pay school fees resulting in them being asked to leave the school. The Head Teachers investigate the cause of the struggle with fee payment. If they discover that the children meet the criteria of funding that we have set out, they contact us with the child’s details for approval. Grants are normally awarded to children who demonstrate a strong desire to carry on going to school.
Alumni
Our vision is to inspire alumni from other schools in Sub-Saharan Africa to run their own SchoolFees Fund for their old schools. We believe this is the easiest and fastest way to impact communities and to ensure that almost every school is represented. We are willing to ‘franchise’ our system to alumni who are willing to make a positive contribution to their old schools in a similar way St Dominic’s girls are doing with their school using the UAY concept.
If you are alumni in Sub-Saharan Africa and are interested in finding out more about how we work, or you wish to set up a UAY SchoolFees Fund for your old school, please write to us on:

If you are a Head Teacher of a Secondary School in Sub-Saharan Africa and are interested in creating a partnership with UAY or you wish for us to advertise your schools for alumni consideration, please email us on:

We have registered our group with social media Facebook and Twitter which is a great tool to connect old students together!
